Produce consistent results with this cost effective Fermentation Jar.  Written instructions provided.  4 different wide mouth size jars available from 700 mls to 2 litres.  Kit contains:

1 x quality Lead free Wide mouth Mason Jar (86 mm lid)

1 x BPA free plastic lid fitted with silicone grommet and three piece airlock*

1 x Wide Mouth Viscodisc

*White BPA Free Plastic screw on lid.   The plastic lids are thick and are not at risk of warping, as pressure is easily vented through the airlock.  The underside of each lid has a custom gasket channel which holds the BPA-free gasket in place at all times - no more wondering if a tight seal has actually been made or struggling to keep your gasket in place.  Custom platinum silicone grommet, 100% food safe components.  Not recommended to put in the dishwasher, freezer or microwave safe.

Easy to disassemble and clean.  Durable, Reusable, Airtight and Leakproof.

Viscodiscs: These inserts make canning, jarring and fermenting easier.   Ensure your fruit and vegetables always stay under the brine and improve the shelf life of your preserved foods.  No more spoilage/waste

Just fill your jar approx 2-3 cms from the top, weigh your ferment down with the Viscodisc (or a glass weight if you prefer), making sure the brine covers your vegetables. Then screw on fermenting airlock lid and put water into the airlock.   This water airlock ensures a totally anaerobic environment in your jar as it allows fermenting gases to push oxygen out of the jar and prevents oxygen from entering creating the perfect environment for probiotic bacteria to thrive.

It is important not to overfill your jars especially when making sauerkraut which heaves/expands.   Additional brine is produced during the first week of sauerkraut fermentation and it will find its way up into the airlock if the jar is overfilled so please leave at least 3 cms headspace.   For veggies in brine/beet kvass etc it is OK to fill the jar slightly more than this as they will not expand the same way that sauerkraut does.

You may wish to add a glass weight or a plastic storage lid to your order (for when your ferment is ready to go into the fridge)
